Job summary

Lightera is seeking a Machinist to perform bench and precision machining for manufacturing facility components, prototypes, and tools. The role requires applying CNC machinery knowledge and CAD/CAM programming to support design and production while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include planning work with limited supervision, mentoring helpers, and collaborating with engineers to troubleshoot and improve fabrication processes.

Qualifications

• Two years of accredited trades school or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be able to work any shift or schedule.
• Commitment to safety, clean work area and PPE usage.
• Experience with CNC machinery and CAD/CAM programming.

Responsibilities

• Plan work assignments with minimal supervision.
• Train and direct helpers and junior trades personnel.
• Collaborate with engineers and other teams to resolve fabrication problems.
• Diagnose machine issues using hand tools and equipment; develop procedures.
• Assist with dismantling, re-assembling and related machining operations.
