Job summary

Automatic Products Co., Inc. in Sumner, WA is seeking a Machinist I-III to join a precision manufacturing team supporting aerospace and defense components.

You will set up machines, select tooling, load programs, read blueprints, and verify part conformance with QA standards across first article inspections. You'll work on weekend shifts (Fri-Sun, 5am-5:30pm) onsite, collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to optimize processes and maintain a safe, organized work environment while

Qualifications

• Experience operating and/or setting up CNC or manual machining equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages).
• Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, feeds, speeds, and offsets.
• Mechanical aptitude with attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic machining and production issues.
• Strong math, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up multiple machining centers and equipment.
• Perform machine setups, tooling selection, fixture loading, and program loading.
• Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, and engineering drawings.
• Conduct first article inspections and verify parts meet specifications.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify conformance and document results.
• Make machine adjustments, offsets, and tooling changes to maintain quality.
• Troubleshoot tooling, machining, and production issues to minimize downtime.
• Optimize machining processes to improve performance and throughput.
• Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to support goals and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical guidance to machinists and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
