Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in machine shop environment.
• 2+ years’ experience in machine shop.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to manage several projects at one time.
• Able to work independently on a project through its completion with minimum supervision.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes, machining and tooling background.

Responsibilities

• Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blue prints, engineering plans and drawings.
• Program mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving parts programs
• Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
• Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
• Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning and facing operations, take measurements, detect malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing work tools and quality assurance.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers, and fixtures and gauges to check work and perform detailed inspection of parts produced.
