Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a Machine Operator in Sedalia, MO for 2nd shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30PM–12:00AM). You will perform assembly and precision machining tasks, interpret drawings and CNC programs, and ensure parts meet rigorous tolerances while maintaining a safe work environment.

The role requires machining experience, blueprint literacy, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Training on cranes and lifts is expected as needed—join a team delivering high-quality results in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of machining experience; CNC experience preferred.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances, specifically 0.0002" on grinding diameters.
• Blueprint reading experience required.
• Ability to understand and edit CNC programs and make offsets.
• Proficiency with basic machine shop gauging tools (OD micrometers, snap gauges, height gauges).
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs throughout the shift.
• Ability to operate cranes and walk-behind lifts as needed.
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic balancing of rotating assemblies per specifications and quality standards.
• Assemble machines to customer specifications and blueprints using standard and specialized tools while following torque specs.
• Operate grinding machines to produce parts within tight tolerances.
• Read, understand, edit, and offset CNC programs and monitor machine operation.
• Take, verify, and document measurements using appropriate measuring tools to ensure parts meet specs.
• Safely move, arrange, and handle parts and materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and walk-behind lifts.
• Identify and report quality defects, equipment concerns, and unsafe conditions per procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow processes to ensure safe operations.
