Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Machine Operator- Grinding/Polishing to set up and run CNC/milling/grinding and related equipment. You will perform minor adjustments and troubleshoot, ensuring the final product meets specifications.

You will read work orders, inspect parts with standard gauges, and log downtime and production data. Cross-training and lean practices are part of the role, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
• Ability to perform basic math and computer skills.
• Ability to learn, problem-solve, and follow work instructions.
• Ability to communicate and work as a team member.
• Ability to work overtime as needed by the company.

Responsibilities

• Run production jobs on CNC milling/grinding, induction, assembly, or other semi-automated equipment per instructions to produce quality parts.
• Inspect product for quality using measuring tools and log downtime and shift communications.
• Read work orders and blueprints to identify specs and ensure BOM accuracy.
• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report defects to staff.
• Perform routine set-ups, changeovers, and adjustments to meet specs.
• Report production parts, scrap, and labor hours via paperwork or electronic entry.
• Follow 6S standards and lean manufacturing practices.
• Cross-train by rotating to different machines/work areas.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
