Southern Illinois Crankshaft, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Cylindrical Grinder Operator to set up, operate, and monitor CNC grinding equipment.

You will produce precision components that meet print specifications, tight tolerances, and surface finish requirements in a modern manufacturing environment. The role emphasizes attention to detail, safe operations, and continuous improvement as part of a high-performing machining team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical machining training is a plus.
• Experience operating CNC grinding equipment, preferably cylindrical grinders.
• Ability to hold close tolerances and verify work with precision tools.
• Strong shop math, blueprint reading, and geometric tolerancing concepts.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot basic machine or tooling issues.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinding machines per work instructions and drawings.
• Read engineering drawings and tolerance requirements accurately.
• Select, mount, dress, and monitor grinding wheels and tooling.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, and machine settings to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot machine or process issues and report to supervision or maintenance.

We are seeking a skilled CNC Cylindrical Grinder Operator to set up, operate, and monitor CNC grinding equipment to produce precision components that meet print specifications, tight tolerances, and surface finish requirements. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented machinist who takes pride in quality workmanship, safe operations, and continuous improvement in a modern manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC cylindrical grinding machines according to work instructions, blueprints, and part specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and tolerance requirements.
• Select, mount, dress, and monitor grinding wheels and related tooling.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Adjust offsets, feeds, speeds, and machine settings to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Troubleshoot machine or process issues and communicate concerns to supervision or maintenance as needed.
• Document inspection results, production counts, and quality data accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety and quality procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to improve setup efficiency, reduce scrap, and support on-time delivery.
