Job summary

Astec is seeking an Assembly Technician to safely assemble, fit, and join components for heavy mechanical products in a manufacturing setting. You will use hand and power tools, read blueprints and diagrams, and ensure parts meet specifications.

Responsibilities include burr removal, setup adjustments, and moving large components with cranes. AGED applicants with basic welding/painting willingness will fit well; safety and quality are emphasized in daily tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0–2 years heavy equipment manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints as well as a tape measure.
  • Relevant trade school coursework desired.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit, and join components per specifications and schedule.
  • Use various hand, pneumatic, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Remove burrs and rough spots from parts.
  • Move parts with overhead cranes and forklifts; perform minor adjustments and setups.
  • Maintain safety and document operations; follow supervisor instructions.
  • Assist with basic welding or painting of components as needed.
