Job summary

Astec is seeking an assembler to join the production team in a heavy equipment manufacturing setting. You will assemble, fit, and join components to exact specifications and schedules, using various hand tools, measuring devices, and machinery.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, using tape measures, and operating overhead cranes or forklifts as needed, while maintaining safety and quality standards across all tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0–2 Years Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired.
  • Knowledge of mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures required.
  • Trade school or college coursework desired.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and read blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and assemble component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies.
  • Use hand, pneumatic, hydraulic tools and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks.
  • Remove burrs and rough spots from parts with file, hone stone, or grinder.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move parts and assemble large components.
  • Perform minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to equipment or machines under supervision.
  • Adhere to safety standards and report problems to supervisor.
