First Urology is seeking a Precertification Specialist in Jeffersonville, IN to verify patient insurance benefits and obtain pre-authorization for medical services. In this full-time, in-office role, you will verify eligibility, gather required documentation from physicians, and coordinate with insurers and staff to ensure coverage before services are rendered.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, experience in medical billing or authorization, strong communication and customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate degree is a plus.
• Prior experience in medical billing, insurance authorization, or a similar role preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Detail-oriented with basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled procedures.
• Obtain required pre-authorization from insurance companies for services.
• Gather medical documentation from referring physicians and staff.
• Liaise between patients, physicians, insurers and facility staff.
• Document and manage authorizations, denials, and appeals in the system.
• Follow up on pending authorizations and resolve issues as they arise.
• Explain coverage and any financial responsibilities to patients.

Key duties include verifying eligibility, gathering necessary information from physicians, communicating with insurance companies, documenting all details, and informing patients about their coverage.
