Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic Pre-Services Specialist in Richmond, VA.

The role involves handling inbound and outbound calls, scheduling and pre-registering patients in SMS and Cerner systems, and collecting co-pays at registration. You will interpret managed care contracts and Medicare regulations to ensure accurate scheduling and documentation, with a focus on timely processing and accuracy in patient data and payments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years healthcare experience preferred.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduling and pre-registration for inpatient and outpatient services within 24 hours of reservation/notification.
• Verify insurance and contact physicians to resolve prior authorizations or referrals.
• Research patient history to ensure Medicare compliance and complete required forms.
• Obtain missing demographic information, quote/collect payments, and guide patients at appointment time.
• Conduct electronic eligibility checks (HDX) and contact insurers as needed.
• Collaborate with facility departments to resolve patient or insurer inquiries.
• Act as liaison to hospital departments and follow downtime procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Atlantic Region CBO (uhs.com)

The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Pre-Services Specialist.

The Pre-Services Specialist is responsible for taking inbound calls, making outbound calls, timely and accurately scheduling and pre-registering patients in the SMS and Cerner systems.

The Pre-Services Specialist will also be responsible for attempting to collect co-pays and deductibles from patient at the time of pre-registration.

This position is also responsible for interpreting managed care contracts; Medicare regulations; medical and anatomy terminology and applying the knowledge to the scheduling and registration process.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Perform scheduling, pre-registration and if needed insurance verification within 24 hours of receipt of reservation/notification for both inpatient and outpatient services
• Contact physician to resolve issues regarding prior authorization or referral forms
• Research patient visit history to ensure compliance with the Medicare 72 hour rule and complete the Medicare Secondary payer questionnaire and ABN as applicable
• Contact patient in a timely and courteous manner to confirm or obtain missing demographic information in Invision PDIX, quote/collect patient payment and instruct patient on where to present at time of appointment
• Perform electronic eligibility confirmation utilizing HDX and calling insurances when necessary
• Work with facility departments and internal departments of the CBO to investigate and resolve issues associated with patient or insurance company inquiries
• Act as a liaison to the hospital departments in resolving issues and documenting accordingly
• Implements and follows system downtime procedures when necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
