The Atlantic Region Central Billing Office (ARCBO) is seeking a dynamic Patient Accounts Specialist to join our team in Richmond, CA. You will handle first-line inquiries from patients and insurers, document interactions, and support accurate patient accounting with prompt, clear communication.

Ideal candidates bring 1–3 years of customer service experience, strong MS Office skills, and a meticulous approach to data entry and call handling in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years customer service preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Customer-focused with attention to detail; ability to multi-task; 10-key data entry; strong written and oral communication.
  • Familiarity with healthcare business office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Document all inquiries from patients and third-party payers.
  • Serve as first-line support for account or claim questions.
  • Identify root causes and resolve issues.
  • Document and communicate resolutions in the Patient Accounting System.
  • Escalate unresolved accounts to management for assistance and resolution.
  • Communicate resolutions to guarantors or responsible parties.
  • Respond within 24 hours to inquiries with updates on status or resolution.
  • Collaborate with facility and departments to resolve payer inquiries.
  • Maintain knowledge of call routing and patient accounting systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Atlantic Region Central Billing Office ("ARCBO") or ("CBO") provides business office services including billing, collections, cash posting, pre-access management, variance, and customer service to our affiliated Universal Health Services hospitals.

The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Patient Accounts Specialist.

The Patient Accounts Specialist is responsible for receiving and resolving first line inquiries over the phone and written correspondence concerning patient accounts by patients or insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Document all internal and external inquiries concerning patient accounts including patient and third party payers.
  • Act as the first line of support to patient or third party payer contacting the facility with questions concerning an account or claim.
  • Root cause issues and attempt to resolve.
  • Document and communicate resolution as appropriate in the Patient Accounting System.
  • Escalate problem accounts to management team of department for assistance and resolution.
  • Clearly communicate resolution of issues to responsible parties and or guarantors on the account.
  • Respond within 24 hours to patient inquiry which requires research providing updates on the status or the resolution of their issue each step of the process.
  • Work with facility and internal departments of the CBO to investigate and resolve issues associated with patient or insurance company inquiries.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the call routing system and patient accounting system
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Position Requirements:
