Job summary

Modesto Toyota is seeking a motivated Vehicle Acquisition Specialist (Buyer) to identify and acquire quality pre-owned vehicles to support the dealership's inventory needs. Responsibilities include reaching out to private sellers via listings, calls, and in-person visits, evaluating vehicles, and negotiating purchase offers.

The role requires strong customer service, negotiation, and market awareness, with opportunities to earn commissions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Valid California Vehicle Salesperson License or ability to obtain one.
• Experience in automotive sales, vehicle purchasing, or inventory management preferred.
• Knowledge of vehicle makes/models, market values, and current trends.
• Strong customer service, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to research pricing, market trends, and inventory needs.
• Proficiency with computers and dealership management systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue opportunities to acquire quality pre-owned vehicles via online listings, outreach, and trade-ins.
• Contact prospective sellers by phone, online, and in person to generate opportunities.
• Review vehicle condition reports and evaluate history, mileage, condition, and market value.
• Research market trends, wholesale/retail pricing, and vehicle demand to guide decisions.
• Schedule appraisals and inspections to assess condition and acquisition potential.
• Negotiate purchase offers following dealership guidelines.
• Build and maintain relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
• Coordinate with service and reconditioning teams to prepare vehicles for resale.
• Maintain records and dealership paperwork; follow policies and regulations.
• Meet performance goals and contribute to dealership objectives.
