Job summary

Oklahoma Center for Orthopaedic & Multi-Specialty Surgery in Oklahoma City is seeking a Part-Time Pre-Op Nurse to develop and execute nursing care in the pre-operative area for patients of all ages, ensuring safety and high-quality care in accordance with policy and procedure.

The successful candidate will coordinate pre-op testing, verify orders for labs, EKG, and CXR, prepare patient packets, and communicate with physicians, labs, and surgical teams.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with state board registration.
• BCLS certification; certification within 90 days if not current.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; strong math and computer skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally and up to 20 lb frequently.

Responsibilities

• Greet patient in lobby and escort to pre-op testing area.
• Verify orders for labs, EKG, and CXR; notify doctor of abnormalities.
• Form the packet with patient’s pre-op testing results; print next day’s schedule and pull packets.
• Make pre-op calls on the next day’s surgery schedule.
• Maintain relationships with hospital, surgery center, clinics and physicians’ offices.
• Demonstrate analytical and organizational skills, effective communication, problem-solving and assertiveness.
