Job summary

River Prairie Surgery Center in Altoona, WI is seeking a Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) to prepare patients for surgical procedures, verify histories, initiate IV therapy, and administer pre-op medications.

The RN will collaborate with anesthesia, surgery and the care team to ensure patient readiness, safety and comfort before procedures, while maintaining infection control and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
• Current RN licensure in Wisconsin.
• BLS certification upon hire; ACLS and PALS within six months.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients’ rights and ensure high-quality, compassionate care.
• Assess health problems with the care team to plan and implement care.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards in all patient care aspects.
• Record care information concisely and accurately.
• Monitor vital signs and ensure stability prior to surgery.
• Initiate IV lines and administer pre-operative medications per orders.
• Describe perioperative experience to patient and family.
• Participate in preoperative testing and universal protocol Time Out.
