Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
  • Active Texas RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS required (PALS if required by the center).
  • 2 years of PACU or Critical Care experience preferred.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on nursing judgment.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills to meet patient and unit needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuity and quality nursing care for all patients.
  • Assist physicians in procedure rooms with conscious sedation using sterile techniques.
  • Care for patients recovering from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients and families in preparation for discharge.

PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse

The PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, ensuring safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. This role includes continual evaluation of patient conditions, assisting physicians in procedure rooms with tasks such as conscious sedation using sterile techniques, and delivering comprehensive patient care as they recover from general anesthesia and/or sedation. Responsibilities also include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients and families in preparation for discharge.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Competency in IV therapy, medication administration, and airway management

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of PACU, PreOp, or Critical Care nursing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with conscious sedation protocols and emergency response
  • Experience in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting is a plus
