Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join the Pre-op team in Springfield, MA. The role involves patient intake, clinical support, and coordination of care within a multi-disciplinary team across our Western Massachusetts locations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR-BLS certification, and eligibility for MA advancement through our career ladder (MA I–IV). Sign-on bonus up to $2,000 may apply for external hires.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CPR-Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required (American Heart Association).
• Demonstrated competencies for MA I–MA IV levels or completion of a formal MA program; progression based on performance and needs.

Responsibilities

• Patient intake: room patients, record vital signs, review histories, document medications, and complete screening forms in EHR.
• Clinical support: prepare treatment rooms, chaperone patients, assist with examinations and procedures.
• Orders & documentation: implement provider orders, process refills, obtain prior authorizations, document data timely.
• Procedures: perform EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, point-of-care testing; phlebotomy and immunizations per policy.
• Discharge & coordination: review discharge instructions, provide resources, coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments.
