Job summary

Surgery Partners is seeking a Pre-Operative Registered Nurse to assist in providing nursing care to patients in an ambulatory surgical setting. The nurse assumes total responsibility for patient care under physician orders and center policies, including documentation, consent verification, and pre-operative preparation.

The role requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, an active RN license, and BLS/ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, develops and implements total nursing care for the pre-operative patient.
• Records and reports all symptoms, reactions, abnormalities and changes in the physical and/or mental conditions of the patients.
• Administers medications and treatments ordered by the physician.
• Cares and discharges pre-operative patients according to facility policies.
• Reviews the pre-operative patient’s chart for accuracy and completeness.
• Ascertains surgical consent is completed accurately, comparing to orders and OR schedule.
• Ascertains pre-operative work up is in the chart and reports abnormal findings as needed.
• Reports pertinent pre-operative information to the OR nurse.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
