Job summary

RIVIERE ELEMENTARY in Metairie, LA seeks a Paraprofessional-Pre-K SPED to assist instructional staff with both instructional and non-instructional duties for students with disabilities. The role supports teachers, prepares materials, and helps manage classroom activities in a dynamic elementary setting.

The paraeducator works per the school schedule, participates in required trainings, and helps with student supervision and timely documentation as part of daily operations.

Qualifications

• An Associate Degree OR 48 hours of approved college courses OR Pass ParaPro Praxis with high school diploma/equivalency.
• Eighteen (18) years of age or older; twenty-one (21) for high school employment.
• Agree to participate in paraeducator training and enroll in sign language course if assigned to hearing impaired class.

Responsibilities

• Works with individual or small groups of students to reinforce skills and concepts.
• Prepares materials to support individual differences in reading and assignments.
• Helps organize classroom at the start of the year and sets up centers for activities.
• Maintains discipline and follows school board regulations.
• Assists with various non-instructional duties and participates in workshops as required.
