Job summary

Echo Shaw Elementary School in Cornelius, Oregon, seeks an Instructional Assistant - General for Pre-K to support a licensed teacher with instruction and supervision of students. The role includes clerical duties and monitoring student behavior to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.

Starting immediately, the position runs 4.5 hours daily (10:30 am - 3:00 pm). A bilingual Spanish/English background is preferred to engage diverse learners and families.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; 72 quarter hours of accredited college or equivalent education or passing score on District HQ Assessment.
• Experience: Prior job related experience paid or volunteer with school age children.
• Skills: Operate a computer, office machines, telephone and other technology equipment.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization skills; ability to perform instructional activities, communicate with parents, students, staff and community.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed staff members for the purpose of instructing students, individually and in small groups, by implementing lesson plans and activities.
• Monitors individual students, classroom and playground activities for a safe learning environment.
• Provides personal care and assistance to students to access education, including toileting and mobility support.
• Maintains classroom equipment and student records for accessibility and organization.
• Performs limited clerical functions related to instruction (materials prep, records, parent communication).
• Confers with staff and parents to assist in evaluating progress and objectives.
• Reports observations and incidents to appropriate personnel.
• Participates in meetings to improve skills and knowledge.
• Supports other personnel as needed to complete work activities.
