Job summary

Northwest Regional Education Service District seeks a bilingual Instructional Assistant (Spanish) for the Tualatin Early Childhood Center. This part-time role supports licensed staff, assists with individual/small-group instruction, and helps implement student IEPs/IFSPs under supervision.

Requires fluency in English and Spanish, strong communication, and ability to lift and assist students with special needs. DOE compensation ranges; ESD employee benefits apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to physically assist students with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, restraining, etc.).
• Ability to lift students from a wheelchair to the floor and back, and on and off a changing table.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction under the direction of a licensed educator.
• Communicate orally, read, and write in English and Spanish to support learners in the classroom and their families.
• Translate notes from the teacher to the family regarding daily activities, and from the family to the teacher regarding the student.
• Demonstrate cultural competence related to students who are English language learners (Spanish-speaking) and their families.
• Assist teacher in working with students to complete assignments.
• Assist teacher in grading and recording students' assignments; maintain and distribute student records as requested.
• Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
• Take and maintain data as needed and required by the licensed teacher.
• Assist students with toileting needs as directed.
• Maintain students' safety and monitor appropriate behavior at recess, in class and during bus loading and unloading.
