Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio seeks a Pre-Health Professions Advisor to lead support services for pre-professional health students. The role partners with the Health Sciences Committee chair to oversee all aspects of student progress toward health careers and to coordinate programs with professional schools.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Communications, or Science fields.
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in student affairs or academic career advising may substitute for a Master's.
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on applications and preparation for admissions tests to professional health schools, including information sessions, workshops, and resources.
• Develop and direct activities and programs for pre-professional health students, offering in-person and remote events.
• Direct and manage Health Professions Committee responsibilities in coordination with the Chair.
• Administer Xavier's Pre-Professional Health Advisory Program (PPHAP) and serve as liaison to Xavier's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Serve as primary staff/faculty advisor for Pre-Medical Society, Pre-Dental Society, and Alpha Epsilon Delta; provide administrative staff support.

Pre-Health Professions Advisor

Xavier University's College of Arts and Sciences is seekingapplications for the position of Pre-Health Professions Advisor.The advisor will assume a leadership role in the determinationofsupport services to pre-professional health students at Xavier.Along with the Chair of the Health Sciences Committee, the Advisoralso facilitates all aspects of a student's progress in preparingfor a career in one of the health professions. The Advisor servesas the primary contact person with professional health schools andinitiates and administers programs and events with theseschools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Advise students in all aspects of their applications andpreparation for admissions tests to professional health schools,including developing information sessions, leading workshops,providing resources, and increasing advising consultation duringthe application cycle.
• Develop and direct activities and programs for Xavierpre-professional health students that focus on developing betterunderstanding of health and career-related issues. Provide regularin-person and remote events to ensure information is accessible tostudents at every stage.
• Direct and manage the multiple responsibilities of the HealthProfessions Committee in coordination with the Chair, while alsoparticipating as a member of this Committee.
• Administer Xavier's Pre-Professional Health Advisory Program(PPHAP), and serve as liaison for the undergraduate pathway toXavier's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Serve as the primary Staff/Faculty Advisor for the Pre-MedicalSociety, Pre-Dental Society, and Alpha Epsilon Delta, and provideadministrative staff support for their programming.
• Administer and manage all record-keeping and tracking ofstudent applications, recommendations and academic records insupport of the professional school application process.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Master's degree required in Counseling, Communications, orScience areas
• A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of workexperience in student affairs or academic career advising in highereducation or healthcare may substitute for a Master's degree.
• Strong interpersonal skills in dealing sensitively with a widevariety of constituents, including students, parents, faculty, andprofessional school representatives
• Ability to work independently, creatively and collaborativelyin an organized manner
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet established deadlinesin a fast-paced environment
