Job summary

Public Consulting Group is seeking an on-site Instructor in Mississippi to work with students, delivering direct instruction in communication, life skills, and pre-employment skills. You will identify student strengths, develop goals, and help learners acquire competitive, marketable employment skills through work experiences.

The position follows the school calendar (180-185 days) with potential summer opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assess the student’s learning strengths and development areas and interests.
• With student input, develop goals and outcomes.
• Instruct students on employability skills (communication, technology, problem solving, teamwork, personal appearance, financial management, professionalism, self-determination, self-advocacy, resume writing, interview skills, job search).
• Assist student in building a portfolio (certificates, letters of recommendation).
• Use appropriate teaching methods, curriculum fidelity, and adaptations for individual needs.
• Assess progress in classroom and work-site settings.
• Monitor and record daily attendance in class and at the work site.
• Instruct student to inform instructor or supervisors about absences or tardiness.
• Help student learn public transportation options and how to access transport.
• Provide monthly written updates with consultant and others as needed.
• Educate employers at work sites about disability awareness and supervision strategies.
• Maintain accurate and complete files for each student.
