Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Pre-Engineered Technician to install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered fire suppression systems at customer sites. You will work with minimal supervision and travel to various job sites as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, 1+ years of related experience, and preferred TN/GA licenses. A clean driving record is needed for driving roles, and you will follow NFPA guidelines and manufacturer specs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specifications.
  • Fixed and Portable systems licenses for TN and GA are highly preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license, if driving role.
  • Strong understanding of pre-engineered systems, practices and applicable codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specifications.
  • Replace/charge agents, service cylinders/cartridges, and verify detection and actuation.
  • Identify deficiencies and perform corrective actions; ensure AHJ compliance.
  • Read and apply manufacturer manuals and service bulletins.
  • Complete accurate inspection reports, deficiency lists, and close-out documentation.
  • Communicate system condition and recommendations to customers.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Respond to emergency service calls.

The Pre-Engineered Technician will independently perform installation, commissioning, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of pre-engineered fire suppression systems to include (kitchen systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting). This role ensures systems are installed and maintained in compliance with applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and customer expectations while managing assigned work with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, test, and repair pre-engineered systems per NFPA and manufacturer specifications. (Kitchen hood systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting).
  • Replace/charge agents, service cylinders/cartridges, and verify detection and actuation.
  • Identify deficiencies and perform corrective actions; ensure AHJ compliance.
  • Read and apply manufacturer manuals and service bulletins.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace; follow all safety procedures.
  • Respond to emergency service calls.
  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Travel to job sites as required.

  • Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work for extended periods.
