Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, LLC is hiring an entry-level Fire Suppression Inspector Apprentice to assist with testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems. You will work under direct supervision and travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• No minimum experience required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record if driving role.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fire suppression systems.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.

• Ability to work effectively in team environments.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems.
• Inspect valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related components.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Perform basic functional testing and visual inspections of suppression systems.
• Document inspection results, deficiencies, and job site conditions.
• Follow safety procedures and customer/site requirements.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Fire Suppression Inspector Apprentice is an entry-level role responsible for assisting with the testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems including extinguishers and commercial kitchen hoods.

The technician works under direct supervision and is not expected to independently perform inspections or testing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians with the testing, inspection, and basic maintenance of fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and special hazard systems.
• Support the inspection of valves, gauges, piping, sprinkler heads, alarm connections, and related suppression system components.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Help perform basic functional testing and visual inspections of suppression systems.
• Assist with documenting inspection results, deficiencies, and job site conditions.
• Follow all company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean and proper working condition.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors.
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Other Duties

• Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Pay Range: $20/hr - $28/hr (depending on experience)
