McKinstry in Minneapolis is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead conceptual estimating, scope development, and budget management for Essention DER projects. You will coordinate with project development, engineering, and construction teams to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction.

The role requires 5–7 years in project management or construction, a bachelor’s degree in CM/engineering, and proficiency with scheduling tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, business, or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Five to seven years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction.
• Familiar with scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera and/or SureTrak).
• Experience with General Contractors or major electrical subcontractors preferred.
• PE, CPM, LEED designations preferred but not required.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office; basic estimating skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual estimating for solar/battery storage projects and develop project budgets.
• Manage scope and budget of a project portfolio from bid through handoff to construction.
• Coordinate bid design requirements, risk management, and cost control with stakeholders.
• Ensure smooth transition between preconstruction and construction with project managers.
• Develop pre-construction schedules, budgets, and risk assessments.
• Monitor progress, deliver data for forecasts, and support procurement strategies.
