Job summary

Inman Solar is seeking a motivated Pre-Construction Engineer to join our team. You will work on civil-design and pre-construction aspects of solar projects, guiding them from conceptual design through start of installation and final completion.

You will create civil drawings, staking plans, and input for pricing and grading models. The role involves coordinating on-site pre-con activities, verifying adherence to standards, resolving RFIs, and ensuring a smooth handoff from pre-con to vertical

Responsibilities

• Utilize Civil 3D and other software to prepare construction drawings used internally and as inputs for third-party engineers; This includes PV layout design, real estate documents, tree clearing and grubbing, and other project needs.
• Create staking plans for surveyors to mark civil and electrical features; verify and communicate with on-site crews.
• Conduct on-site evaluations of civil work to assess progress, quality, and adherence to design specifications.
• Review third-party civil engineering documents for accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Review subcontracts and manage on-site work (quality, schedule, compliance with HSE); approve subcontractor invoices.
• Recommend improvements to civil design and supervise implementation; collaborate with EOR for erosion control or stormwater detention features.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Create new and improve existing optimization tools to assist system design.

Description

Inman Solar is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Pre-Construction Engineer.Working as an integral part of a knowledgeable and experienced team, the candidate will beinvolved in civil-design and pre-construction-related aspects of solar projects and will seeprojects from conceptual design through start of mechanical installation and ultimately supportwith final completion. The candidate will be responsible for creating civil-related drawings usedto communicate scopes of work to consultants and subcontractors (e.g. staking plans forsurveyors, Bill-of-Material takeoffs for civil pricing and inputs for grading models).

Responsibilities also include managing internal and external resources performing on-site pre-con activities, verifying that work adheres to standards and design, resolving RFIs and ensuringproper seamless handoff from pre-con to vertical construction. The Pre-Construction Engineeris an integral part of the project team reporting progress and schedule to project management.

Incases where civil design elements such as erosion control measures or stormwaterdetention features are not performing as intended, collaborate with the EOR andrelevant subject matter experts to develop and execute effective solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams - including project managers, engineers, andconstruction personnel - to ensure seamless project execution.
• Create new and improve existing optimization tools to assist system design.

To be successful in the position of Pre-Construction Engineer, the candidate is expected to self-sufficiently verify items from CAD-design and prepare the drawings needed for the workflow.The Pre-Construction Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving projects to construction start withproject management skills supported by design abilities. Through effective leadership,collaboration, and strategic decision-making, the Pre-Construction Engineer will contribute tothe successful execution of projects and the continued growth and success of the organization.

The AutoCAD training process will take place over the first 2-3 weeks on the job and will involvebuilding a foundational understanding of the software through online tutorials, followed byhands-on learning with real project files. The candidate will review CAD drawings from pastprojects alongside final construction documents to understand formatting, structure, and builddetails. Training emphasizes key skills such as manipulating surfaces, using blocks withattributes, arrays, georeferencing, paper space vs. model space, viewports, sheet sets, etc.
