Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Pre-Commissioning Engineer to coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients across North America.

The role involves supervising startup personnel along with contractor electricians and engineering staff, performing field engineering, and ensuring safety and compliance in high-voltage environments. A strong background in electrical testing and commissioning is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or 2-year degree with relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage applications.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform substation field engineering, including work plan preparation and project testing.
• Review, revise and develop isolation/restoration work plans and functional tests.
• Direct troubleshooting efforts to resolve functional test deficiencies.
• Markup field change drawings, discrepancy lists and project closure packages within 30 days of in‑service date.
• Provide on-site support to Design Engineering, Substation Construction and Transmission Service Center Managers.
• Provide technical guidance on unusual or complex problems ensuring standards are maintained.
