Job summary

Virginia Urology is seeking a Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse to educate and prepare patients for surgery from an experienced, diverse care team. You will perform pre-operative assessments, order labs, and coordinate with anesthesia to ensure a safe peri-operative pathway for adults and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities include educating patients on pre- and post-operative care, obtaining medical histories, and ensuring adherence to sterile and safety protocols in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Licensed in the State of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity.
• CPR and ACLS certifications.
• Registered Nurse with a minimum of 1 year experience in pre-admission testing, pre-operative, and/or post-operative care unit.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-operative assessment based on VUSC guidelines, including psychological and physical considerations.
• Educates patients regarding preps, pre-operative, and post-operative instructions.
• Obtains labs, generates lab orders, and performs EKG with documentation.
• Notifies anesthesia of abnormal labs values and coordinates health assessments prior to surgery.
• Provides direction to team members and ensures safe, comprehensive patient care.
• Reviews labs, EKGs, and clearances prior to anesthesia; handles add-on patients as needed.
