UnitedHealth Group's Atrius Health unit is seeking an organized Practice Support Assistant to join our Internal & Family Medicine team in Somerville, MA. You will provide essential front-office support, manage patient check-in, scheduling, and referral processing to ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient experience.

Positions in this function perform advancedPractice Support Assistantduties with a high level of autonomy and competency. Serves as a key member of the medical team, delivering excellent customer service and supporting strong patient-clinician relationships. In addition to core responsibilities, handles administrative tasks, which vary by department.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm EST

Location:40 Holland St. Somerville, MA

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments

  • Coordinating communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, and other departments
  • Sending and receiving medical records and documentation
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient information in the electronic medical record (Epic)
  • Assisting with prescription refill requests according to office workflow
  • Preparing forms, letters, and other patient/provider documentation
  • Supporting office workflows and maintaining efficient patient flow
  • Following HIPAA, privacy, and organizational policies
  • Assisting providers and clinical staff with administrative needs
  • Participating in team meetings, training, and process-improvement initiatives
  • Providing excellent customer service and helping create a positive patient experience

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Medical Office Administration Program
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with scheduling software and electronic medical records systems (Epic or equivalent)
  • Proven solid problem solving and complex patient management skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
