Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Actual duties may vary by department (see Addendum B):

  • Perform duties with moderate supervision, demonstrating intermediate to advanced administrative skills.
  • Provide routine and complex administrative support, including typing, answering phones, and message management.
  • Coordinate calendars and schedules for multiple managers or department events.
  • Proofread, edit manuscripts, perform literature searches, and assist with presentation materials.
  • Assist in preparing and editing grant applications and related materials.
  • Transcribe physician notes.
  • Help train and orient staff as needed.
  • Provide cross-coverage when necessary.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities involve coordinating patient care, managing schedules, handling billing and insurance processes, and ensuring compliance with hospital standards.
