Job summary

Steptoe LLP in Washington, DC seeks a Manager, Practice Group to partner with Practice Group Leaders and the Director of Practice Operations. You will advance business planning, workload allocation, and budget analysis while developing SOPs and improving practice management capabilities.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, track initiatives, and provide actionable insights to inform leadership decisions. Hybrid work arrangements may be available for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in legal operations, practice management, or professional services roles.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute substantially to cross functional projects—from inception through implementation.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with data analysis tools.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as day-to-day operational resource for assigned Practice Groups (PG).
• Support recurring PG activities, including preparing materials for partner/attorney meetings, reporting, and communications.
• Respond to ad hoc data requests or lead special projects; collaborating with other stakeholders as needed.
• Develop SOPs, identify best practices or process improvements that should be standardized firmwide.
