Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one and group career advising, including resume/cover letter review and interview prep.
  • Deliver career workshops in-person and virtual; cover pivoting careers, networking, and LinkedIn usage.
  • Plan and execute employer-facing events to connect students with opportunities.
  • Promote marketing initiatives for events, mentorships, and individualized advising.
  • Liaise across Marshall Career Services, Marshall School of Business, and USC to build partnerships.

The Marshall Career Services team, comprised of more than 30 professional staff, and more than 30 undergraduate and graduate student staff, lead the charge to ensure all of Marshall's approximately 8,500 undergraduate, specialized MS, and MBA students have the support, resources, and connections to achieve their professional goals. Position Description

The Practice Group Coordinator (PGC), Working Professional Programs, will support the Marshall Career Service's efforts to ensure our MBA students across the executive and working professional programs achieve professional success, whether that is promotion, growing in their current role, or pivoting careers all together. The executive and working professional practice group offers a robust set of services to support the students, including individual and group career advising, workshops, and leveraging the many resources throughout Marshall and the Trojan Network.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Partner with the Practice Group Leader in developing a strategy to support the professional success of the executive and working professional MBA students, including students enrolled in the executive MBA (EMBA), Online MBA (OMBA), MBA for Professionals and Managers (MBAPM), and one-year full-time MBA (IBEAR)
  • Conduct one-on-one and group career advising with executive and working professional MBA students, including career coaching on resume and cover letters, interview preparation, and other topics
  • Deliver numerous career workshops both in person and virtually across a variety of topics, including pivoting careers, effectively using LinkedIn, networking strategies, and many other topics; actively work with students to cultivate topics of current interest
  • Plan and execute employer-facing events, working to connect executive and working professional MBA students with relevant professional opportunities
  • Promote and support marketing initiatives for related employer events, career services training, mentorship programs, and individualized career advising, to enhance student engagement
  • Actively liaise with partners across Marshall Career Services, the Marshall School of Business, and USC to ensure that the organization is seen as a great partner and willing collaborator
  • Lean into Marshall Career Service's strategic value of relationship-centered , actively leaning into building positive relationships with students; maintain relationships with student clubs and their leaders, take opportunities to attend club events and be visibly present, and lean into communication during times of conflict
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of full-time relevant experience (Career Services or direct Industry Experience)
Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Career Counseling, or related discipline.
  • Five years of full-time relevant experience (Career Services or direct industry experience)
    Anticipated Salary Range

    The salary range for this position is $80,010.17 - $90,824.54 - $103,786.08 . When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
