Job description

Join to apply for the Practical Nursing Instructor role at Hillsborough County Public Schools.

This position is a full-time, 12-month practical nursing program instructor. The instructor will be responsible for ensuring students are prepared to enter the workforce as practical nurses.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Eligibility for District Certificate required, including one of the following:

  • Related bachelor’s degree with one (1) year related experience.
  • Related AA/AS degree with two (2) years related experience.
  • One (1) year of technical training with one year of verifiable experience.
  • Three (3) years of full‑time in‑field verified work experience.

The Postsecondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher is responsible for the instruction of designated postsecondary CTE content area(s)/course(s).

Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
  • Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
  • Manages student behavior with effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
  • Takes responsible precautions to provide for health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data; maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
  • Engages with local business and community partners with the CTE program; participates as local CTSO advisor.
  • Engages in continuous improvement and professional development, including earning appropriate industry certifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change as determined by district needs.
