Overview
Secondary Teacher (grades 6-12) responsible for instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within a secondary school.
STEM with subject leader area supplement.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet individual student needs.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain grades and attendance.
- Manage student behavior using effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
- Take all responsible precautions to provide for health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Adequately maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data.
- Maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

- Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred; eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required.
- Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; responds to inquiries; writes speeches and presents to managers, the public, and school board.
- Mathematical Skills: Works with math concepts and applies fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and interprets instructions in various forms.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant current software programs.
Physical Demands
- Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
- Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.
- Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
- Environmental Conditions: Moderate noise level.
