Job summary

Milwaukee Tool seeks an experienced Project Leader for PPE who can manage mid to high complexity engineering projects with minimal direction. You will lead global teams, drive NPD processes from concept to launch, and maintain risk and schedule discipline.

You will coordinate cross-functional efforts with Marketing, Operations, Quality and Suppliers, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery of conforming PPE products. Travel up to 10-15% is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years engineering experience in related field.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
• Proven success in past work experience in designing a product that was mass produced.
• Experience in managing medium to highly complex new product development projects.
• Must possess a high level of engineering aptitude including a broad knowledge of materials and manufacturing process associated with Milwaukee Tool products.
• Solid understanding of part costing methodology.
• Good understanding of engineering specifications and the roles of Suppliers, Quality, and Purchasing in delivering conforming parts and assemblies.
• Excellent problem identification and resolution skills.
• Results driven and deadline orientated. Ability to manage projects to aggressive schedules and results.
• Ability to adapt to constant change and competing priorities.
• Thrive in a collaborative work environment. Ability to develop and nurture productive business relationships, and influence and educate internal team members and external suppliers.
• Ability to draft comprehensive test plans and specifications.
• Basic understanding of 3D CAD, and familiarity with tolerance analysis.
• 10-15% travel required.
• Demonstrated interest in safety, PPE, and tools of the construction trades.
• Experience with plastics, elastomers, and textiles is preferred
• Experience with design of PPE and/or highly regulated products is preferred
• Experience with biomechanics, biomedical engineering, and ergonomics is preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership over mid to high complexity PPE NPD projects. Gives direction and engineering expertise to local and global team members.
• Develops schedules, agendas, facilitates and documents project meetings; tracks schedule and presents status.
• Proactively identifies project risks and implements risk reduction plans.
• Responsible for completion of assigned engineering projects within budget and schedule.
• Coordinate project planning for mid to high complexity projects; identify critical path tasks.
• Applies understanding of the NPD process from conception to product launch.
• Frame up technical tradeoff discussions with Marketing and cross functional teams.
• Manage scheduling to meet milestones; communicate with cross functional teams.
• Identify design/manufacturing hurdles to bring products to manufacturing.
• Scrutinize designs for weaknesses and suggest improvements.
• Work with Operations, Quality, and Suppliers to confirm conformity.
• Motivate cross functional team to focus on cost, performance and schedule.
• Maintain awareness of PPE market and trends.
• No direct supervisory responsibilities but provide input for performance appraisals.
