Job summary

Lutheran Family Services in Omaha, NE seeks a Pregnancy, Parenting and Adoption (PPA) Coordinator to provide counseling, education, referral, and support to birth and adoptive families, while delivering outreach related to pregnancy, parenting and adoption.

The role coordinates services, recruits and oversees adoptive homes, prepares legal documents, conducts home studies, and represents the agency at outreach events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field required.
• Master’s degree in Human Service field strongly preferred.
• Provisional licensure as a mental health practitioner in Nebraska or eligible for PLMHP preferred.
• At least 5 years’ experience serving children and families.
• Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling services to pregnancy, parenting clients, birthparents and families.
• Assess client needs and coordinate community resources for birth parents who choose to parent.
• Participate in the placement of children in adoptive homes and prepare legal documents.
• Recruit, evaluate, and oversee prospective adoptive homes.
• Plan and lead group education and preparation for prospective adoptive parents.
• Evaluate potential adoptive homes and complete written reports and home studies.
• Provide post-adoption counseling to adoptees, adoptive families and birthparents.
