Job summary

Lutheran Family Services seeks a Director of Foster Care and Kinship Services to lead strategy, development, and daily operations of our family intervention programs in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska.

The role focuses on empowering families, ensuring quality services, meeting accreditation standards, and collaborating with partners and funders to sustain impactful programs for children and kinship families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience in children's services, with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a mental health practitioner or a clinical social worker in the State of Nebraska preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading children’s services programs to meet state and local regulations and national accreditation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of liability auto insurance, and ability to transport clients safely in personal vehicle on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision of daily programs and staff across foster care, in-home, and kinship services.
  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness in staffing, processes, documentation and organization.
  • Monitor programming to meet client standards, objectives, accreditation standards, regulations, and policies.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement planning for the program.
  • Collaborate with Grants and Finance on grant applications and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee reporting to funders and leadership and ensure timely submissions.
  • Identify trends to grow and improve programming.
  • Stay current on issues, policies, and procedures via training and conferences.
  • Serve on community committees and strengthen agency and community life.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and funders.
  • Utilize agency communications and development efforts to achieve PR and fundraising goals.
  • Provide direct service including client transportation when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
