Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking an Adoption Worker to support families through the foster care licensing process, write home studies, and provide post-placement supervision and support. You will engage with youth and families, collaborate with county and tribal agencies, ensure compliance, and advocate for permanency and culturally responsive care.

The role emphasizes reflective supervision, ongoing professional growth, and a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field required.
• Master's degree in social work strongly encouraged to apply.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work some evenings and weekends to support families and children.

Responsibilities

• Assess family readiness: write home studies, guide licensing, provide post-placement supervision.
• Build trusting relationships with families and youth through permanency journeys.
• Advocate for children's best interests and permanency options.
• Collaborate with county/tribal agencies, schools, and community resources to ensure support.
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold regulatory standards.
• Provide ongoing placement support to families and children.
• Engage in reflective supervision and peer learning for practice improvement.
• Approach families with cultural humility and inclusive care.
