Job summary

dorle-controls-llc is seeking a Powertrain Thermal System Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI to lead system architecture for ICE/EV/HEV thermal components and to collaborate across hardware, software, and vehicle integration teams.

Requirements include an advanced degree and 8+ years in automotive systems, DFMEA, CAN/LIN, DOORS; experience with regulations, tests, and ECUs; strong traceability and issue-resolution skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electronics/EE/mechanical/automotive engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering or powertrain development.
  • Knowledge of functional safety and vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN).
  • Proficiency with Doors tool (DNG, Doors).
  • Knowledge of regulations and homologation.
  • Experience with test log readings and analysis.
  • Issue resolution capabilities and experience with testing/validation teams.
  • Experience in system level DFMEA.
  • Knowledge of INCOSE guidelines for requirements writing.
  • Knowledge of ECUs, interface design, and signal definition.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, and maintain system-level architecture for powertrain ICE/EV/HEV components.
  • Maintain system specifications and interface requirements.
  • Conduct architecture/design reviews to ensure adherence to guidelines and standards.
  • Create system architecture/boundary diagrams for powertrain components.
  • Manage functional requirements, diagnostics, and end‑of‑line requirements for thermal systems (ICE/HEV/EV).
  • Capture and manage customer and regulatory requirements, creating functional requirements.
  • Translate requirements into technical specifications and ensure traceability.
  • Deliver functional requirements including all e‑powertrain and powertrain thermal content.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and vehicle integration teams.
  • Lead creation of detailed documentation for all functions and interfaces within an end‑to‑end vehicle architecture.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive standards, homologation, and diagnostics.
