Job summary

Tekshapers is seeking a Powertrain Engineer to lead function analysis, requirements elicitation, and system decomposition for a hybrid propulsion program. You will document operating modes, energy management concepts, and safety requirements using DOORS/DNG, MATLAB, and SysML tools.

The role requires strong knowledge of CAN/LIN networks, OBD standards, and agile collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust powertrain solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering; mechanical, electrical, aerospace or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and system functioning.
• Solid knowledge of automotive sensors/actuators and OBD.
• Experience with functional safety and automotive networks (CAN/LIN).

Responsibilities

• Perform powertrain function analysis and decomposition.
• Capture regulatory, environmental, and corporate specs.
• Create high-level propulsion requirements in DOORS/DNG.
• Document propulsion system operating modes and energy flows.
• Develop energy management concepts and HMI-related data.
• Conduct SFMEA to identify safety requirements.

Job description

Duration: Full Time

Responsibilities:

• Performing powertrain function analysis and function decomposition
• Requirement elicitation activities to gather Regulatory requirements, environmental and electrical parameters & associated corporate specifications etc.
• Propulsion system high level functional requirement artifact creation in IBM DOORS/IBM DOORS Next Gen (DNG) including attribute classifications.
• Propulsion System Operating Modes Identification, Analysis and Documentation in DNG.
• Propulsion System energy conversion, storage and delivery understanding and requirement development considering standards and OBD compliance.
• Propulsion system EOL Service requirements (IO,Routine,DID) defines for propulsion components
• Powertrain Energy Management System analysis to for nominal, de-rated and non-functional performance.
• Perform System Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) for Propulsion system functions and identify the safety requirement
• Participate in Agile Methodology to plan RASI deliverable timing and identify potential risks.
• Develop simulation/virtual models for specific propulsion features/functions using MATLAB, SysML Rhapsody.
• Good understanding of functions like gearbox management, energy management of high-voltage batteries, vehicle’s modes related to its performance, ECU power cycles and displaying powertrain-related information to the user on the HMI.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering other related Engineering degree.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
• Good understanding on overall vehicle dynamics and vehicle system functioning.
• Good understanding automotive electrical sensors and actuators.
• Good understanding of Functional Safety.
• Expertise with automotive communication protocols such as CAN and LIN along with OBD standards.
• Experience in Function analysis and function decomposition.
• Expertise with Microsoft Office products Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
• Proficient in requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORs, IBM DOORS Next Gen etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Vector Tools for data collection.
• Vehicle Validation or Powertrain Calibration experience.
• Familiarity with Agile project management
• Experience with overall vehicle development cycle and Change management process.
• Good communication skills, able to lead meetings with cross functional team.
