Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Chemical Process Safety Engineer to support operations at the Toledo, OR containerboard mill. This role will develop, implement, and continually improve process safety programs and risk assessment strategies to reduce risk and support compliance.

You will influence across operations, maintenance, engineering and site leadership while coaching others and driving change through credibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Science, Safety.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in process safety, process engineering, manufacturing operations, engineering, mechanical integrity, or reliability.
Experience working with process safety covered assets or within a PSM-regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Lead, facilitate, and participate in risk assessments, including Process Hazard Analyses and design reviews.
Provide engineering review capability for PHA, MOC, and PSSRs.
Review equipment design specs, safeguarding specs, and procedures for safe operation.
Develop expertise with chemical reactivity hazard management tools and provide guidance.
Analyze incidents and near misses to support corrective actions and improvements.
Build process safety ownership across operations, maintenance, engineering and safety teams.
