Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Toledo is seeking a Technical Assistant (Assistant Superintendent) to join the Power and Utilities area in Toledo, OR. The role provides strategic and technical leadership to improve safety, reliability, production, and cost through process/equipment optimization and operator development.

You will work with operators, shift leaders and superintendents to drive continuous improvement, lead outages, and support capital projects.

Qualifications

• Experience leading safety and reliability initiatives in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement.
• Experience coordinating outages and capital projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive a culture of safety and environmental excellence through hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with operators, shift leaders and Superintendents to meet department objectives and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead safety, quality and cost-reduction initiatives that add value to operations and drive improvement.
• Lead outage planning and execution for cycle and routine outages; participate in outages as a core team member.
• Assist in capital projects involving process improvements to document and optimize efforts.
• Use process data and operating trends to troubleshoot Power, Utilities, Recovery, and Causticizing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve chronic equipment and process issues.
• Support outage scope development by identifying technical priorities and ensuring risks are addressed before restart.
• Lead or participate in root cause analyses and management of change related to safety, reliability, quality, and cost.
