Kids for the Future seeks a Power Transmission Intern to gain hands-on experience alongside engineers in the electric power industry. The role blends field surveys and drafting in a collaborative team environment, ideal for a student who enjoys problem-solving and learning new technologies.

The internship offers exposure to AutoCAD, SpidaCalc, ArcGIS, PLS CADD and Microsoft Office while developing technical, analytical, and professional skills in an office/field setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• English language: ability to read and interpret documents; write simple correspondence; present information clearly.
• Math skills including probability, statistics, geometry and trigonometry; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Responsibilities

• Perform field survey, inspection, and analysis of electric power facilities (4kV through 345kV).
• Create detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for construction projects.
• Support QC/QA procedures and maintain design standards and procedures.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers, inspectors and public on project activities.
• Provide technical support to staff.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
