Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering in Houston invites students to join as Transmission Line Engineer interns, supporting substation, transmission and distribution projects from 12kV to 500kV. You'll help with engineering design, prepare design documents, and contribute to EPC efforts under supervision.

The internship emphasizes hands-on experience, collaboration within a team of engineers, and exposure to power facilities' design standards while supporting multiple projects nationwide.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
• 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
• Basic knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Familiarity with Word processing, spreadsheets, and email software.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, clients, etc.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and drawings for transmission line projects, including criteria for PLS-CADD and bills of materials.
• Assist with building and analyzing transmission line, pole and tower models in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER.
• Develop construction drawings and material specifications for submittals to vendors.
• Review project schedules with engineering to keep projects on track.
• Support project activities and coordinate with client representatives as needed.
