Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support outage coordination and short‑term power system analyses. You will build models for power flow and stability, evaluate performance, and produce reports on transmission limits and congestion management.

The role includes developing operating procedures and collaborating across teams, with a rotating 12‑hour shift and competitive base salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience in ISO/RTO, utility, transmission environment preferred.
• Proficiency with power system analysis tools (EMS, PSS/E, TARA) or similar.
• Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards and outage coordination.
• Experience developing operating plans and reliability assessments.

Responsibilities

• Utilize CROW to enter, modify, and communicate outage information.
• Build near-term models of the MISO Power System for power flow, contingency, stability analysis.
• Evaluate system performance and prepare reports on transmission limitations, forecasting assumptions, congestion management, and mitigation planning.
• Lead operational planning analysis and collaborate with service line groups.
• Make decisions affecting project design, scheduling, and completion across departments.
• Develop, review, and support operating guides, agreements, and procedures for normal and abnormal conditions.
• Be available for rotating 12-hour shifts with no overnights.
