Job summary

H.O. Penn Machinery is hiring a Power Systems Estimator for Medford, NY; Poughkeepsie, NY; and Newington, CT. The role requires 3+ years of estimating experience in power systems or similar industries, with a focus on bid evaluation and procurement processes.

The position offers a salary range of $70,000–$90,000 annually, plus a 10% bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) matching, holidays and PTO, and a company laptop and cell phone.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• The effective use of the estimating process, optimizing the likelihood of customer engagement.
• Gather and review all project documents.
• Identify system components and requirements.
• Review logistical and site-specific conditions/factors.
• Confirm/identify approved manufacturers and vendors.
• Identify scope gaps relative to codes, customer needs, testing and training.
• Optimally priced products and services through the RFP process.
• Compile BOM from takeoff and identify vendors for proposals.
• Use quoting software to create quotes for generators and components.
• Request quotes from qualified/approved vendors and internal service for labor/equipment testing.
• Create high quality estimates and quotations that lead to winning business.
• Use the company quote template and articulate deviations and terms.
• Review proposal with OSR prior to submission.

• Identify vendors from whom to request proposals


• Utilize quoting software to create quotes for generators and associated components


• Request quotes from qualified/approved vendors – including internal service department for labor and equipment for testing purposes

High quality estimates and quotations that lead to winning business

• Use H.O. Penn quote template, create proposal using project specific requirements


• Clearly articulate any deviations from specification


• Articulate terms and conditions for H.O. Penn


• Review proposal with OSR (Office for Standards in Reporting) prior to submission

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably within power systems, electrical construction, generator systems, or a related industrial environment


• Experience working with vendor proposal requests and bid evaluation processes


• Familiarity with approved manufacturer/vendor programs and procurement processes
