Job summary

American Electric Power offers a Summer Internship Program in Bridgman, MI at Cook Nuclear Power Plant for 10–12 weeks of paid engineering work. Interns will collaborate with engineering teams, participate in design reviews, field visits, and data-driven analysis while receiving mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering in ABET-accredited program.
• Must have completed at least your freshman year.
• Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.
• Willingness and ability to relocate for the summer internship locations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, design, and execution of enterprise projects.
• Participate in design reviews, training sessions, and constructability assessments to ensure safety and standards.
• Conduct field visits to operating facilities to understand power system operations and assist in inspections and tests.
• Assist in developing and analyzing databases, reports, costs, and dashboards to support data-driven decisions.
• Help document decisions and initiatives aimed at improving safety and operational performance.
