Job summary

American Electric Power is offering a 10-12 week Summer Engineering Internship in Bridgman, MI. Interns receive a housing stipend if relocating and work on real projects with experienced engineers.

Qualifications include pursuing an ABET‑accredited electrical, nuclear, mechanical, or chemical engineering degree, freshman year completion, and a December 2027 or later graduation date. Must be 18+ and eligible to work in the US.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in ABET‑accredited engineering (Nuclear/Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical).
• Must have completed freshman year.
• Graduation date December 2027 or later.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.
• Willingness to relocate for the summer internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, designing, and executing enterprise projects.
• Engage in design reviews, training sessions, and constructability assessments to maintain safety and standards.
• Participate in field visits to understand power system operations, assist in inspections and tests.
• Develop and analyze databases, reports, cost estimates, and dashboards to aid data-driven decisions.
• Support documentation for decision-making to improve operational performance and safety.
