Job summary

Versant Power in Hampden, Maine, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support transmission and distribution planning, protection analysis, and substation design, with a hybrid work model. Under the Supervisor, T&D System Planning, you will help develop short- and long-term capital plans, maintain data reporting, and ensure compliance with NERC/O&P standards while coordinating with multiple departments.

Qualifications include a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, 0–10+ years T&D

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology required.
• Engineer I – Zero to four years of T&D or Electrical Engineering required.
• Engineer II – Five years of T&D or Electrical Engineering required.
• Engineer III – Ten years of T&D or Electrical Engineering required.
• Identity verification and seven-year criminal background check per NERC standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain understanding of existing and emerging NERC O&P Reliability Standards.
• Perform transmission system analysis and capital planning studies; model systems using PSSE and APA (CAPE).
• Coordinate with Substation Engineering, Power System Technical, and System Operations to ensure compliance with standards.
• Prepare data submittals and reports for FERC, NERC, ISO-NE, MPUC and others as needed.
• Supervise subcontractors and consultants on engineering tasks.
• Provide technical support for projects from conception to completion.
