An electric utility client is looking for a Power Systems Engineer who will assist engineers in performing load interconnection studies, battery energy storage system charging table studies, and generation interconnection studies.

Location: Pomona, CA 91768 (Remote)

Position: Power Systems Engineer

Pay Rate: $60/hr. on W2

Duration: 12 months or longer

Schedule: 1st shift, M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

• This position is 100% remote

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers in conducting load interconnection studies, battery energy storage system charging table studies, and generation interconnection studies.
• Review Generation Interconnection Requests under the WDAT and Rule 21 Tariff, ensuring technical data completeness and appropriateness for studies.
• Evaluate Rule 21 or WDAT screens to determine if further studies are necessary.
• Perform power flow, short-circuit duty, voltage analysis, and other relevant technical analyses to ensure safe and reliable interconnection of new resources.
• Create one-line diagrams, study reports, and review Generation Interconnection Agreements as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Proficient in PSLF, PowerWorld, Excel, with ability to articulate results.
• Experience with power system analysis including power flow and short-circuit analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with generation interconnection studies and related analyses.
• Experience reviewing Net Energy Metering (NEM) projects and knowledge of Rule 21 Tariff and WDAT.
• Experience with Google Earth Pro and power system analysis software (preferably CYME and CAPE).
• Experience with PCI.
